Prologue

This is a first. The Holiday blog never starts before we’ve left for our travels. But here we are.

Over the past week as Daddy has been winding down at work, delegating up and down to ensure a peaceful, uninterrupted break, there has been a background doubt. How does he keep up the content as the muses continue to restrict their supply of material.

Well, where there is a need, the universe will provide!

The Poole-Wain family took another trip to Luna Park as a precursor to the holiday adventures. The mild weather teased a potentially less packed park for the day. The queue for the Scenic Railway was shortish at an estimated 50min. This was more like a 1.5 hour wait after not 1 but 2 riders dropped their phones on the track and the attendants had to clear the way. In the queue Kelsie and Ethan were arguing like the Berzatto family Christmas. When the family finally made to the front of the queue, we were informed that they were only taking 10 (half) guests on the next ride. Why was not clear, but definitely concerning on a 100-year-old wooden rollercoaster. On the last dip of the ride, the trolley seemed to bottom out, and on the last corner the brake person was over overzealous and brought the trolly to a complete stop with a nice view of St Kilda beach and the Luna Park rubbish bins. A push from the attendants and engineers was required to get the trolly going again.
