What a day. Kelsie has been pushing all sorts of boundaries this holiday and gave it a red-hot go today. She didn’t want to get out of the pool and tried sneaking in even when told we were leaving. Jumping from Activity to activity, sometimes even before the activity was started. Can we do this? Can we do that? I think the need for immediate gratification is a big social issue, and probably not just limited to our kids.
Kelsie has had to be the first to do everything as well. Leading the way to or from the apartment. Opening doors with the keypads. choosing the seat on a ride. Trying to claw back something extra for Ethan is a constant struggle.
Today started with Swimming, shock horror. The water slides were closed until 9am, so Dad had to brave the unheated pool with Kelsie and Ethan.
Mum got to pick the destination today and she wanted to go to Paradise Country Farm proper to meet Shaun the Sheep and Bitzer. It was the most inconvenient setup. There are no maps or programs to hand out, you only have the app. but the mobile reception is poor and the wifi spotty. so half the time the app doesn’t work or takes ages to load. Not that it matters much because the app doesn’t really tell you where any of the activities are, and the map is poorly labeled. If you do find something extra you want to do. You need to go to the main yet smaller gift shop if you want to do Opal mining or Gold Panning. And you go to the larger photo gift shop if you want to book in animal photos or pony rides.
There’s a tractor ride that you need to go on twice to get your money’s worth, it’s free, but you spend almost as much time waiting for the farm hand to close the gate as you do on a lap of the park.
Just for a change, Dad had to usher some kids out of a gate and back to the pen where they belong.
Tonight Kelsie and Ethan got to go to a Kids club disco party, giving Mum and Dad three hours of R’n’R.
Tomorrow there will be between 50mm and 150mm of rain. Whatever we do will probably involve swimming.
Drinks of choice
- Mum – Fruit Tingle
- Dad – Turtle on the Beach
- Kelsie and Ethan – Milkshakes, hands off Bitzer!

Your adventurous holiday continues! I can tell the children are really enjoying themselves and we love reading your posts Kim and Ben. You will both look back and wonder, in the years to come, where the kids got their energy from! Love to you all, Fran
