Porky Pies!

Dead horse! hit the frog and toad! Mum and Dad tried to teach Kelsie and Ethan a bit of Aussie slang today. Needless to say, the repetitive joke of the day was Ethan saying anything followed by, “I was telling a Porky Pie”.

Five eighteen am, 5:18 am, FIVE EIGHTEEN AM. Thats when Kelsie and Ethan woke up this morning and wanted to start their day. They were persuaded to go back to bed for another 45 minutes and then to let Mum and Dad sleep in until 7am.

Kelsie organised almost all of breakfast for her and Ethan, she only got stuck when it came to opening the rice bubbles, it was a new box and the bag inside was still sealed. Let’s see how tomorrow goes for mess.

Off to the pool in the morning again, this time for some water slides. Mum finally got to spend some time in the heated spa, while Dad played short stop as the kids came shooting down the water slide.

It was a day of ‘Will we, won’t we? Will it, won’t it?’ with our plans and the rain. In the end we didn’t go to Paradise Country farm for the afternoon. We did go to Currumbin wildlife sanctuary. And it did rain almost nonstop from about 12:30pm.

Dad’s discount code for Currumbin didn’t work so that was unfortunate. But that’s a story for another day. ‘Kangaroo Land’ had flooded recently so their miniature train doesn’t go there anymore, and the area was muddy and treacherous to navigate, how we got through without anyone on their backside.

We braved the Flight show, almost certain Ethan was going to lose it when the birds swooped over the crowd. To his credit he didn’t bat an eyelid when ‘Bailey the owl clipped Dad in the face while Ethan was sitting on his knee. And he was full of praise for the parrots and eagle. He is not happy whenever there are Pidgeon’s or magpies around though.

Ethan even braved the Lorikeet feeding and was quite happy to have a bird on his arm, or on his feeder bowl.

Despite best attempts to get out of the Gift shop without excessive spending, we left with, Photos, a Furry Koala Christmas bauble, a Koala Backpack and a Red-tailed Black Cockatoo puppet.

We went to Paradise Country for Dinner as they have Kids eat free Friday and Mum had heard good reviews. The food was great, but there was a function there as well, it might have been a sweet 16, or a graduation of some kind. Either way, Kids everywhere, the restaurant had run out of almost all non-fizzy kid’s drinks, and all the Lift and Coke. Mum and Dad still call it a win, as both kids probably ate more vegetables in one meal than in the preceding 6 days.

Dad doesn’t get why so many of QLD’s streets have ‘second chance’ exists. You can turn left from some round abouts without going into the roundabout, but then still turn left from the roundabout. There’s even an intersection where you can turn right at the lights, or merge right via a ramp and overpass. It’s

A minor intermission was required in composing this post. Mum had pulled the shower door off its runners. And Dad was needed to fix them.

It only took 7 days, but we finally got the kids tired enough to crash in the car on the drive home.

There was an epic fight today, you can watch it here!

  1. How much did you have to pay the Roos for that exhibition ?
A good thing to see in real life.
All good home here – but floods continue to dominate .

Something good planned for tomorrow or a day at the resort?
Lots of love from us both

  2. Just loving you daily posts. The Currumbin Bird Sanctuary is a must – shame about the wet! It’s the same down here! Floods are a real concern.
Try and get some rest! Ha ha!
    Cheers to you all,
    Fran.
