My favorite ride is

Not what you think…

At 5:45am Kelsie woke Mum and Dad with a “There’s an eyelash stuck in my eye”.

5:55am Kelsie and Ethan both announced themselves at the bedroom door with “We want to go swimming”, already decked out in their bathers. The pools don’t open until 7:30am.

6:05am Ethan appeared on Mum’s side of the bed with “Look at my parrot”. His hatched toy parrot, from the Clog Barn, thrust into Mum’s face.

6:15am Kelsie, “We’re hungry” Dad, “45 minutes”

6:18am Kelsie, “Don’t, I’ll dob.” Ethan, “It was only a little kick.”

6:19am They finally turn on the TV and watch ABC Kids.

Then Dad caved and got up.

Off to the pool again in the morning, after the promise of Movie World. The forecast for the next few days is not great so we are getting in as much of the big day activities as possible. Still, when it’s time to get the kids out of the pool they require aggressive negotiations.

On the drive to MovieWorld Mum noted that her stress levels, as measured by her watch, were the highest EVER yesterday. So much for relaxing.

Urban sprawl must be hitting the gold coast as well because Movie World seemed a lot closer to built-up areas than ever before.

In the gates, straight to the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster queue. As Mum’s favorite ride this was a must-ride. Kelsie might not have been as big a fan as the Storm at SeaWorld, but enjoyed it, Ethan was not a fan, though randomly decided he wanted to go on it a second time. with only slightly better outcomes.

Trying to get to the ‘Dorothy over the rainbow’ performance was needlessly difficult, three different staff gave three different directions, all more wrong than right, but right enough to not be wrong. That seems to be the story of our holiday.

Ethan was much happier on the Junior Car School or the Speedy Gonzales’ Tijuana Taxis. He did ride the Wild West Falls with some coaxing and then by choice. Dad got to ride the DC Rivals Hypercoaster, and Mum got to ride the Green Lantern.

Ethan managed to only drop the final bite of his icy pole today. Kelsie cracked it because yesterday Dad finished her ice cream after she said she had enough, and she wanted more later.

At the end of the day, both kids were worn out and their feet were hurting. Probably exasperated by the dash, from the main entrance back to the Wild West Falls gift shop, to get Kelsie a Tweety Towel that only that shop sells.

On the drive home Ethan announced that his favorite ride today was the Wild West Falls, followed by the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster, and Yesterday his favorite ride was “The one with the water and the cave with smoke” the Storm ride, which he didn’t like and refused to go on more than once.

Mum and Dad suggested a quiet day tomorrow to recover. “I don’t want a quiet day” was the response from Kelsie.
