Today started at 5am. That’s 4am Australian time, when Ethan came into Mummy and Daddy’s room, jumped on the bed and few times, then quick as a flash was back in the adjoining room. Not for a long time, but just long enough for Mummy and Daddy to fall asleep and then be woken repeatedly by either Ethan or Kelsie saying they were hungry or complaining because the wifi wasn’t working.
At Ethans first Fijian buffet breakfast he rated the bacon as 1 million quadrillion out 10, the Eggs were 10/10 and the toast was 7/10. Later he proclaimed that cooking was no Fiji’s ‘best’.
As an 8 year old Ethan thought he should get himself his first Tattoo. Picking a sting-ray as a partial forearm sleeve. He started a trend with both Daddy and Kelsie soon sporting similar ink work.
In the afternoon Mummy was concerned about getting into the shower while Kelsie and Ethan showered in the adjoining room. Troubles at home not having enough hot water to run multiple showers aren’t a problem when your have seperate bathrooms at a holiday resort.
At dinner Kelsie and Ethan showed that they can be independent when it’s in there best interest. They know how to order their free ice cream at the restaurant and recite their room number for reference.
Despite the constant health and safety warnings from Mum, Dad, the resort and the Fijian government, at dinner Ethan dropped a bread roll on the floor and was about to pop it straight into his mouth. Lucky Mummy caught him in the act and managed to avert that potential disaster. Five seconds later he knocked over his orange juice covering the table in sweet sticky nectar for the rest of dinner.
Kelsie on the other hand thinks it’s her choice if she gets sick. A friendly reminder of the hours spent at Monash Emergency last month only partially corrected that train of thought.
Cocktails at the pool bar are on another level. Service is on Fiji time, so they don’t come in a hurry. But pours would not be out of place in the RSA manual for what not to do.
Closing out the night, our hosts serenaded Ethan with Happy Birthday. Fijians are lovely.
